The 8-piece construction and sewn-down brim are traditional features inspired by the iconic Newsboy Cap, which in turn took its cues from the Scottish Bonnet-style hats and Irish Flat Caps worn by farmers and laborers of the 14th-century. When those same workers eventually immigrated to the U.S.A. they brought their hats with them, which quickly caught on. A favorite of American jazz legends since the early 1900s, the Hatteras is a cap rooted in history.
